China Does as We Did
"The many may oppress the few, but the few may not oppress the many. Not for very long, anyway."
The Quotations of Slim Fairview.
Do you understand why the Chinese Government raised 500 million people from poverty to the Middle Class?
China created a Consumer Class
China created an investor Class
But most important (and not most importantly) China gave half a billion Chinese people a vested interest in the success of the Chinese Economy and a reason to work towards it.
"China will succeed because China will do as we did, not as we say." Slim Fairview.
Remember these from our past?
Universal Public School Education
Manifest Destiny
The Trans-continental Railroad
The Monroe Doctrine
The Panama Canal
The Hoover Dam
The Labor Movement
The G.I. Bill
Affordable Single Family Homes
Capital Investment + Economic Stimulus =
Economic Development + Growth
Slim's Paradigm
How many of them has China implemented?
The Cultural Revolution
The Economic Revolution
Nicaragua Canal (Pending)
Hydro-Electric Power Dam Project (Three Gorges Dam)
T.P.P.
South China Sea
Belt and Road
China appears to be emulating our history.

Will China Implode?
The Media Still Doesn't Understand China
If you find anything here to be helpful, please don't hesitate to send me a really tricked out Mac Book and to tuck a few dollars into the envelope along with the thank you note.
Thank you.

Global Crisis: Global Solution
“A global economic problem requires a global economic
solution.” ~ Slim Fairview
“The military option is no longer viable. The Economic zero-sum game doesn’t work
anymore.” ~ Slim Fairview.
How are things working out globally?
First of all, recent reports indicate that emerging
economies contribute 75% to the global growth.
That would make emerging economies important for the global economy.
Hence I wrote the following.
The G 20 in Good Times & Bad (Not for the G 20 alone,
anymore.)
The Haves are increasing arithmetically.
The Have-nots are increasing geometrically.
The real challenge is not the difference in the number of
dollars between the haves and the have-nots.
The real challenge is the difference in the number of people
between the haves and the have-nots.
This is not a sustainable model.
What we are witnessing globally in migrations is explained
by what are politicians are able to deal with.
What we are really witnessing is a basic law of physics. People are moving from a greater
concentration to a lesser concentration.
Now, remember the difference in the number of dollars? The problem is that money in the
industrialised nations has reached a saturation point. This is the point at which the sponge no
longer absorbs water.
This is explained in my article Ascribed Value. Or,
ridiculous consumption.
The tedium is listening to people forecast the problems with
no one offering any solutions. You can’t
solve opportunities. You can solve problems.
Case in point. I’ve been inveighing against Merkel’s
Austerity rant with the celerity of a honey badger for 4+ years. Now, Mario Draghi is “printing money”. Why? Because austerity failed.
The World is in desperate need of
Capital Investment
Economic Development
Growth.
This requires a meeting of the minds of world leaders on a
single issue. This is about
survival. Imagine the alternative. I covered that in The G-20 in Good Times
& Bad.
Warmest regards,
Slim

OIL: The Real Outlook
Much has been written about Solar Power:
- Benefit to the environment
- Global Warming
- Saving money on Electric Bills
- Government Support
- Government Funding
- Tax Incentives.
- And so on…
However, all of this had lead to little, if any, advancement
in the field.
To make my point:
Dateline: 1964
Science Class
Teacher: Mrs. Hohman
Report: Solar Power.
That was 50 years ago.
In the past 50 years, little or nothing has happened. The reason for
failure is that Government pays for activity, not for accomplishment.
Now let’s take the business approach. This should go a long way toward my explaining
why Big Oil should invest in Solar Power.
There are some sound business fundamentals coming to the fore.
- Rising Demand Curve
- Declining Costs
- Innovation
- Economies to scale
- Revenue growth curve
- Tax incentives
- Increasing return on investment
In addition, Solar Power is Clean Energy.
- Less Government Regulation
- Less Government Push-back
- Less Consumer Push-back
- Less Global Push-back
There is an incentive to do business in a country with a
Solar Power Industry. (Invest in it)
Solar Power is an easy sell in a country that does not have
domestic oil production and/or does not have the money to import oil. (Invest in
it.)
Solar Power is a very cost-effective source of Energy.
(Invest in it.)
Sunlight is the fuel for Solar Power Generators.
Sunlight is
- Free
- Globally Available
- In abundant Supply
- Unregulated
- Not Subject to Embargo
- Not Subject to Supply and Demand.
Of Course, there are a few problems attached to Solar Power.
Sunlight is
- Free
- Globally Available
- In Abundant Supply
- Et. Seq.
Bottom Line? If the input is Free, the output is Profitable. The more people use, the more you make.
Then there are the home grown revenue enhancement
opportunities—Plastic. Plastic, the
by-product of the Petroleum industry. (Another reason that Oil will never go
out of business.)
When Engineers apply their skills to plastics, it will become less necessary to defoliate the landscape. Also...
Plastic Girders will
- Replace steel in countries where it is cost-prohibitive or impractical or impracticable to use steel.
- Replace wood where wood will suffer from mold, rot, warping, infestation, cracked and breaking.
- Replace wood and steel where cost and weight and logistics make assembly, dis-assembly, construction and reconstruction become compelling factors for using plastic products.
- Everything from Archimedes’s Screw to bring water to a higher level to pipes to irrigate fields can be made from plastic.
Warmest regards,
Slim

Americide
AMERICIDE
“The military option is no longer viable” ~ Slim Fairview
“The Economic zero-Sum Game is no longer viable.” ~ Slim
Fairview.
"Americide is not analogous to homicide. Americide is analogous to suicide." ~ Slim Fairview.
"Americide is not analogous to homicide. Americide is analogous to suicide." ~ Slim Fairview.
Both having been said before leads us to a better
understanding of what is happening and, by extension, what will happen. Call it “Que Sera” if you will.
In previous articles outlined two important moves that
portend a shift in the path of the trajectory for the global economy.
Mr. Putin’s Economic Theatre of Operation
Emerging Nations Economic Unions
By my definition, Emerging Nations are those enduring a low
GDP, unstable food supply, and that are being exploited by industrialized nations. Nations that are being kept shackled to
poverty by being kept shackled to poverty programmes.
Now, it would appear that some people actually have been
reading my blogs.
Recently, BRIC nations plus South Africa announced the
formation of a Global Development Bank.
This news was being reported in July.
This is what I wrote about in February and March.
While these nations may be at variance with my definition of
Emerging Nations, I must concede I did say it is up to each nation to choose to
define itself as such. With this
announcement, China Russia, India and Brazil and now South Africa appear to
have done so.
I want to believe that their leaders read my blog and
embraced Slim’s Admonition.
"The Economic Zero-Sum Game isn’t going to work anymore."
If you go back a few years, you will have read another of my
admonitions. The world is evolving into
Power Centres.
The Asian Power Centre
The Middle Eastern Power Centre
The African Power Centre
The Latin American Power Centre
The European Power Centre
The North American Power Centre
These power centres are now forming around economic
interests. Or, more to the point, Economic Survival. Soon, Economic potency.
Where does that leave us?
Remember China before Nixon’s overture in Asia Major? Isolationist.
And the Global Economy functions.
Now, some 40 years later, China is the second largest and fastest
growing economy on the planet.
Fun with numbers.
Rule of 72. A metaphor
China growth = 8% [ 72
÷ 8 = 9 ]
US growth = 2% [ 72
÷2 = 36]
By way of metaphor, China’s economy doubles in 9 years, the
US economy doubles in 36 years. Hold
that thought.
What happens when the rest of the world decides it does not
need the US economy?
Remember when I said, “The haves are increasing
arithmetically: the have nots are increasing geometrically.”?
What happens when the newly defined Emerging Nations begin
leading the other Emerging Nations toward earning a bigger piece of the
Pie? Toward claiming their rightful
share of the pie? In addition, less
reliance on the American Markets for Revenue and less reliance on the US for
necessities.
The Chinese consumer will replace the US consumer. Remember, China has a population of 1.3
Billion people. China Elevated 500 million
people from poverty to the middle class.
The US has only 300 million consumers.
If China can do that for 500 million Chinese people, then
500 million Chinese people can do that for 500 million or more people around
the globe.
Rising Chinese affluence will create a growing market for
growing global economies. This will
elevate many of the have nots to the level of the haves.
India: The quantity of food that rots on the vine due to the
lack of infrastructure will diminish. India
has a new Prime Minister. This presages the possibility of reforms to build the
necessary infrastructure to increase the quantity of food available.
In addition, developing agricultural resources will make
emerging nations less beholden to America’s Bread Basket. The Rust Belt speaks to that.
With the US achieving energy independence, the demand for foreign
oil won’t be the real issue. The real
issue is the diminishing reliance on the American market. If we don’t buy it, other nations will.
Alliances will—well, I said it before:
Alliances will—well, I said it before:
“It is a universal condition: we refuse to accept that all
alliances and enmities are transitory.” ~ Slim Fairview The Quotations of Slim Fairview © 2014
